Winchester .22 ammo

I'm almost due to stock up on .22 ammo again and found this flyer in my rifle paperwork folder.

For 18 years I have used Power Point bullets but am considering having a play with some others, I might try a pack or two of Xpediter LR and Laser LR and see if they group as well or better.

I just got my Anschutz and haven't test all the ammo yet, but I've got a box of Winchester Power-Points, 42gr Subsonics, and Bushman ammo to test next week.

I'll post back with how they go.

That looks like an older copy, the 42g works really well for my savage.

I have a pair of mates who shoot those as well.

The slightly heavier sub-sonic's really seem to do the trick.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's from August 1996.

Cool, looks like a few of us are ready to play around with .22 ammo.

I will conduct all my testing at 50 mtrs. I recon ill do 4 groups of 5 shots at 50 and one group at 100 for each type of ammo. With the scope zero at 50mtrs

I'll post up my results in average group sizes with each group measured as outlined below.

When I became interested in rimfire benchrest, I bought about 20 different brand/weight/velocity packs to test and was surprised

by the variation in group size and POI between the tests.All done off the bench,in weather as close to ideal as possible.Some of

the big names shot terribly,and I arrived at Fed Premium Gold #719 and SK Rifle Match,both will shoot minute of angle if I do my bit.

I did not try the more exotic match ammo,simply because It is too costly. The rifle is a '67 Brno M2

Rimfires are peculiar beasts and finicky about what shoots well in individual rifles,these tests stopped my usual process of buying a

box of whatever for a trip to the bush,if you want to hit what you aim at,test and find the best for YOUR rimfire.

If some supplier could be bothered going through and matching ammo to all the most popular rifles then selling it by the box as the most accurate tested load, I reckon they'd make a fortune.

The Federal gold was $4.

I got the Federal gold, CCI Standard and RWS Club from one shop. $4 - $7 for these.

All the others from from a different shop. $7 - $12 for these.

The cheaper shop is an hour away unfortunately while the more expensive one is just 10 minutes from me.
