First question ,

Question two
Can i instal myself or do i need a gun smith by law .

Any help appreciated .

I bloody well hope not mate! It's not like when a business owner over a pittance amount needs to hire a tradie with a BSA license (and contribute to that rip-off) surely?
You still get cr@p work or get ripped off all the time...

With quite a number of 2nd hand guns hitting the gunshops some of the work I've seen done by "qualified gunsmiths", or whatever that is in Australia except for being granted a license as such by Weapons Licensing, is absolutely atrocious.

On most bolt-action firearms, changing/removing triggers is a matter of one, or a couple, of pins or machine screws. There'll be a law by some softc*ck beaurocrat that says you can't change the oil in your car soon enough.
Rant over - if you're not comfortable doing this job, check out the gazillions of vids on YouTube for your rifle showing how to do the job and see if it's something you have the skills to do safely. If not, by all means get a "qualified gunsmith" to do the job for you. No shame in that.

Timney make a trigger for Tikka.
Should be easy to fit, you can do it yourself or I can do it for you.
I live in the norther suburbs, Perth.

Thanks for replies fellas.
I have the skills to change it didn't know if there was some sort of legal requirement .
Have youtubed it and it looks very simple .
Do you think suppliers will post to home address or will it need to go to a smith.
I have looked at the Timney trigger Maxy. I think trigger tech made a good one too.

Just check it out there mate, here in Qld for example, Cleavers send to my farm letterbox but on their homepage down the bottom it says any of that stuff (gun parts) must be sent to some strange-sounding joint there called Perth Arms and Armour, for $10.
Not sure what they broker charge there, it's courier sent by the pallet. Other gunshops in other states coukd advise too.
Maybe it'd be best to order from a shop in WA?
