338 edge dbm

Hey guys has anyone got a 338 edge using a dbm if so how have you gone about it

What make of rifle? If it's a Remington you could use a DBM for a CIP length magazine. I know PTG and Stiller make them. You need to machine the rib out of the sides of the mag as the edge case is longer and won't fit in the mag with the rib there (photo below). I made a stock for a Sako L691 in 338 edge and machined the magazine this way and it worked perfectly (once I made a new bolt release/ejector to suit).

As long as the chassis takes the CIP length mags you should be fine, a regular 338 Lap magazine will be a bit short. Just check your loaded length compared to the cutout in the bottom of the action to make sure it's not too long to fit through.

Neither does greg.... so don't worry no one can pronounce it so just go with CIP, it means Euro spec....

Not sure what CIP is an acronym for but the CIP mags allow around 2mm longer OAL compared to a regular 338 Lap magazine.

I'll translate for you - the Permanent International Commission PIC>CIP .......for the approval or testing (not sure) of longarms /smallarms...

European organisation equivalent to SAAMI.

a 'CIP' spec 338LM mag would allow for a spec Cartridge length of 93.5mm(with clearance) which is plenty for a standard RUM/edge of 91.44mm

At the moment I've ordered to savages in 7mm rem mag one is gonna get reamed to 7mm ultra and the other one is either gonna be 338 edge of 338-378 weatherby
