G'day fellas, I had a Savage .303 with a worn out barrel. I decided to re-barrel and upgrade a little. Sorry the pics are sideways. Cheers

I am not breaking any new ground of course. But I am surprised how different this gun is now You wouldn't believe it was the old full wood " musket " Shoots well too.

Very interesting! Still a 10rd mag with the 7x56R?
Feed ok, or mods needed to mag?
Seed of an idea planted.

G'day gunnie, yes it does feed well from the mag, although, there are a few little mods you have to do. File the extractor just a pussy hair as the rim on the 7x57r is just a little thicker. It hates rounds with 175grn projectiles because of their long skinny profile. That doesn't bother me anyway as I only want to shoot 139/140 grn rounds and they function flawlessly. Also the ejection can be a little less positive. By that I mean the 7x57r case just flops out of the receiver as apposed to flying out like a .303 case. The 7x57r case has almost a semi-rim so it doesn't friction on the left side of the receiver like a .303 case.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll have another project on the boards next year!
