Not having a go but I've heard it before and am interested to know why. I've never broken a plastic one and surely the metal one would be both heavier and more expensive as well as higher maintenance as far as corrosion.
"Improvement" might have been the wrong word to use.
Obviously the plastic trigger guard does the job, millions of people shooting Tikka's with no problem.
I suppose I'm thinking of it as a matter of perception and peoples confident in a product, peace of mind when buying etc.
As you've read, it seems plenty of people are instantly turned off by the plastic. Whether that's a reasonable concern or an irrational one is largely irrelevant, it's just a fact - People don't like plastic.
I'm sure your right about expense, weight, corrision etc. but I don't think that changes the above.
This turned into a bigger conversation than I really intended with my original comment. All I really meant to say was that if the trigger guard and bolt shroud were metal, I think a significant number of shooters who previously dismissed Tikka for the plastic would come around.
