comb height adjustment

I have a plastic stock and I was wanting to put some kind of cheekpiece on it.

I don't need to be able to adjust it on the fly, and I definitely don't want bulky nuts sticking out, so the ATP product on fulfils half of the requirements.

I see Matthew's Fab does one with allen keyed interscrew. I guess they just have a larger hole in the other wide of the stock and cheekpiece?

Anyone spotted something similar local?

I guess you're right, a bit less dicey than breaking out the drill, though possibly worth doing after you know the height helps.

I found shooting long-range with .22LR, it's useful to be able to adjust the comb height when making large elevation adjustments, like 50-100 minutes.

What is that, like 300-400m?

I know capitalism is about all the choices but surprising that they don't have a slip on recoil pad and comb height adjustment in one go? Might give that a go if I don't feel handy with the needle and thread.

I would expect somebody has offered a combined recoil pad comb raiser, but I don't know how effective it would be. When I'm setting the rifle up I use strips of medium density foam. I stack them on the comb until I find the height I want.

I also bought some of the strap-on butt stock pouches, some of which have a comb pocket you can pack to the required height. Similar to this - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/14299821438 ... %3A2334524

It's just som high density foam under the leather. Gives about 12mm lift

This is my crappy Ruger hunting rifle, which gets a run in 3-P field comp sometimes, for the novelty/practice:

As you can see by the old hole (which I filled with black stained acraglass gel), it took me a few iterations and alterations to find the optimal position, shape and angle, for which is adequate for all the 3-positions. I also scalloped near the grip, and took some material away to allow the bolt to freely ride all the way back.I also cut the threads off the backside of the riser recessing them making more comfortable when carried or for a left-hander who doesn’t want threads in their cheek.

Whatever option you go with, I think you'll be lucky to get it "perfect" the first attempt.

Funny how few rifles come out with stock suitable for scopes these days.

Yes particularly the entry level hunting rifles without a hint of any iron sights, it makes no sense to have the comb drop away classic yank style.

I think the Franchi has a bit of the shotty legacy showing, it drops away more than the ruger for example
