Remington do this for their VTR rifles.

There was a technique called magnaporting,used electro-erosion to cut ports parallel to bore in the barrel to reduce muzzle rise,

Brakes are probably cheaper,can still be made with vertical ports,google artillery muzzle brakes,there are some weird and wonderful.

When I was a younger man,duds were something you wore,duds-trousers-jeans,envisaging duds blowing up in someones face, :oops:
