DaleH has been kind enough to share some documentation of his process on the stock work for any members who are interested in giving it a go.

You can download the guide here.

Thanks to Dale for taking the time and sharing.
See you on the firing line.

Final colour coat - sparkle and clear coat required to finish the job. Daughter loves it - big brownie points for me.

To the OP, BearFootBowman.

If you haven't already got the gear and started, order a laminated blank from Boyds in the US and go from there. It will cost you as much (or less) than a sheet of structural ply and glue from Bunnings. It will be easier on your tools and much easier to work accurately than glues together bits of ply. End product will be much better all 'round.

From memory Boydes blanks will cost about $100 with postage ($45 for blank). Structural ply will be about $70 for a sheet, plus glue, plus too much time working with inappropriate material, plus time sharpening tools all the time because the glues aren't made to be worked like that......

You get the picture.

Good luck with the project!
Cheers

edit: just checked date of OP... probably too late for any advise now. :geek:

Harper,
Very Happy - also very impatient - according to her, I should take a day or so off work to get it finished for her - at least she has her priorities right - shooting before work!

If i can get hold of the right "sparkles" I should be able to give it a test run later this week or some time next week. Once it is all together I will post the finished article.

Photos of finished stock and assembled rifle - My daughter is nicknamed "Squeaker" hence the "Squeakinator" on the stock.

Things I would do different:
1. start off with better quality ply
2. Find a better quality but pad
3. Learn how to use body filler better for an improved surface finish

Daughter is happy so it cant be too bad.

Yeah, she is over the moon. We should be taking it out to the range on Sunday - the club captain will spew ("guns aren't meant to be pink") and one of the lady shooters already wants her hubby to do something similar for her.
No to think of the next project - maybe a silhouette specific stock for my CZ......
