I am curious as to why .223 Wylde exists as a chambering in Australia ?
How much 5.56 ammunition is sold / available in Australia?
Is it cheaper and where is it sold ?

Rebels used to sell some 5.56x45mm, I've never seen it elsewhere.
I don't think it was particularly cheap.

My understanding is that 7.62 and 5.56 NATO supplies dried up/ceased being common when the Gov't prevented surplus ammunition being sold to rifle clubs - but this is back before my time so I could be wrong, just something I think I heard at some point. I've still got both of my old man's F Class Rifles gathering dust, in 5.56 and 7.62 Sportco's Respectively, my own F Class rig I bought later was .308 however, long ago sold to someone more interested in the Sport, still can't bring myself to part with Dad's.

You do still see some ADI/Australian Outback branded stuff in 5.56, I've honestly not seen anything in 7.62 but then again I've not looked.
