M70 Inletting screws

Post by Wm.Traynor » 09 Aug 2023, 9:55 am

Been thinking about the above for my Winchester 30/06 but there seems to be the odd catch. Brownells USA wants nearly $40US. Apparently they are 1/4" with 32TPI so after measuring one of mine I got 0.245" for the shank (? nomenclature ) and 0.225" for the threaded section :unknown:
Even if I wanted to buy from the US, would those screws fit? Both Brownells Aust and Amazon Aust don't have them, so that is out.

Does anyone know where I can get them in Oz, made to that size, without paying through the nose?

Yes, the bolt is 1/4x32tpi, also known as 1/4 Unified National Extra Fine or 1/4 Model Engineer. I'm sure you could find them cheaper than $40, try any reputable engineering bolt supply
