How long should a soft recoil pad last

Post by wayward » 03 Sep 2014, 8:47 am

Hi guys.

I see a lot of factory recoil pads are pretty hard. To make them last I suppose?

How long do the soft ones like limbsaver last?

Do you have to replace them every few years?

Thanks.

Years certainly.

Just don't spill solvent or oil on it.
What is this "too many rifles" you speak of?

Solvent it what turns them to goo.

IMO store your rifles muzzle down as well, so any excess run off doesn't eventually find its way down to your recoil pad.

A few guys have had it but down for a few weeks and they open the safe to find it melted to the carpet.
Whatever you do, don't look at the mayonnaise...
