Stevens 200 ejection problem

Post by Wooky » 10 Sep 2014, 5:41 pm

Hi to all,

I have a Stevens 200 that won't eject "PINK" snap caps and some times the caps stay in the chamber.

I recently pulled the bolt apart for some polishing on some area to make for a smoother bolt lift and cycle

Oiled everything nice ang good with G96 and it did improve, but will not eject properly.

Wondering if any one has some advice. Thanks

Saying that it won't eject pink snap caps.

Will it eject unfired rounds and empty cases?

Snap caps can be notorious for getting stuck...

I reckon you've put the bolt head on upside down.

If so, the ejector will put the case inwards instead of out the side. If you give the bolt some elbow grease to eject though it will still release the case and it will fall out so will seem like the bolt sort of working.

The extractor should be on the side closest to the bolt handle.

Check out it, that's what I think you've done.

What do you mean by properly??
Does it;
(1) extract from the chamber and it does not eject (pop out)
(2) Stay in the chamber when you open the bolt

regardless, if you cant resolve this problem then (dont take it to heart) you shouldnt have disassembled the thing...maybe you have some left over bits or they are not reassemble correctly

Thanks for replies.

I installed the ejector wrong way round. Dohhhh.

Pulled it apart and switched 180 degrees. All good now.

Pink snap caps are craparoony. Ejects spent cases perfectly :-))

Figured as much ;)

At a glance there's nothing to really give it away it's upside down. All seems well until you start working the reassembled bolt.

Happens to more than one ;)

That's a bit ordinary.

You'd think they'd make a notch or something on it so you can't put it on the wrong way?
