Barrel shank and thread?

Post by andym79 » 15 Sep 2014, 5:56 pm

I have a Lever conversions in mind.

At this stage I am just pricing up. I don't know much about shank size and thread.

What shank size and thread would fit the following:

Winchester 1886
Marlin 1895

The 1886 or 1895 to 40-65!

Do any other copies fit Winchester models e.g. Chiappa, Rossi or Uberti?

So who make barrels that would suit any f the above rifles, especially the Marlin 1895 (A Winchester 1886 is hard to come by!)

Is this barrels suitable for fitting to a Marlin 1895?

No, practically every different rifle has a different barrel thread, diameter, tenon length, thread pitch and thread type even... let your smith worry about this part, the blank needs to be machines to suit.

These are off an old sketch, need to be confirmed.;

win1886, 0.876"dia thread,1.0"Length, 20tpiV
win1892/94, 0.807"dia thread,0.64"Length, 20tpiV
Mar1895, 0.968?" dia thread, 0.885"Length, 12tpiSQ
