Cleaning cerakote

Hi guys,

Any reason to change cleaning routines with a cerakote coating?

I'm thinking about getting one done. I have the usual copper solvents, oils for cleaning... Clean with the solvent and wipe with the oil for storing.

Same deal with cerakote? Does the coating react badly with any of these things that I need a special replacement for?

A non-abrasive cloth and rubbing alcohol is the preferred method I think?

It's a coating (which obviously you know) so it will wear off or chip off it you go to hard or use anything too abrasive.

Avoid the steel wool.

Many have regretted it.

Brake cleaner seems to work great.

Doesn't bother the cerakote and gets rid of the grease and grime great.

Sweets and Hoppes #9 is what a mate uses for his 2 which are coated.

That's all I can tell you but they look good so it seems to be working without incident.

I just use rubbing alcohol and a microfibre cloth.
