How to rebore a rifle barrel, chamber it, crown it & mark it

Post by kurl » 25 Oct 2014, 10:27 am

Just sharing a video I thought was pretty good.

The how it's done videos are often just 1 fraction of the process it seems? Thought this was good that it shows a bit of the whole process of reboring and rechambering a rifle, and some finishing touches.

Anyway, it gets asked a bit so hopefully useful to some.

I'm sure he worked his ass off getting where he is, but he's got it made now.

Just gets to potter around in the workshop all day making vids of projects he chose to do.

Dream life.

They must have a swimming pool of oil at the place that does the reboring, looking at the stills that went by.

I dunno, metal filing in the oil?

Maybe not great to reuse it.

The swarf carried away by the cutting fluid drops out of the solution onto the machine tray pretty quickly but the pump tank under the machine still needs cleaning out periodically.
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Some ppl also make small "weirs" so the swarf is collected in tiers as the solution runs over the walls ;) Definitely recycled cutting fluid.

That's sounding like a lot of effort.

Anything wrong with a regular paper filter?
