Hinterland muzzle brakes

WoW thats some fancy shooting ,I thought .766 @ 200 m was good today 3 shot group but that bloody Awesome!!!LOL used the Hinterland brake today for the first time and found it weird it was shooting 12' high but still center @ 100m from the setting with out the break!!!! Bloody noisy in those tin sheds at SSAA but the felt recoil was pretty awesome and a vast improvement on the original rifle!!!!

12" high at what range? the brake will add a little velocity but it's not noticeable at shorter ranges

At a 100 m Chronos ????? Kinda high but it was 12" kinda freaked me out .I thought may be a couple but 12" was alot.looked for contact points but nothing and holes were perfectly round??? Go Figure

I've never experienced that with HSS brakes. In 2 calibers it only took 1 or 2 shots to zero, probably didn't have to adjust any thing. 12"..something wrong there.

i can only do that when the breeze is consistent or none i have a long way to go reading the breeze when it's wofty

can't wait to get the brake and give it a try so i can the hits

I reckon someone forgot the last time they shot their rifle was at longer ranges and they clicked back to their 100m zero, bt forgot the last turn of the elevation turret

seems like a lot of elevation, i couldn't put it down to the brake. the only way to know is to take it off again and check zero

Thats what i thought and sure enough thats what I did returned it to zero without the break and it was only shooting 1 inch high @ 100 ???? Will take it out and work on it tomorrow going to bed now It's got me stuffed

Well I didn't sleep a wink last night so I went down the shed early this morning and guess what, I think we have a winner??? I seated my pills 100 thou deeper on this load as they were getting better groups last time I was load testing!!! Dohhhh last lot 3.100 @ 44 grn of 2209 this lot 3.000 @ 44 grns of2209 plus a muzzle brake and I think the mystery is solved, well here's hoping. same old problem try changing to many things at once and this is what you get.Also when I measure the difference on the target was only still 6". ANYWAY LOOKS LIKE OPERATER FAILURE TO ME!!!!! lol

Looks the goods. When you put it on take out the bolt and look down the barrel, you should not be able to see any part of the brake. Just a safeguard in case the wrong caliber insert was put in. You wouldn't want a bullet strike.

yep the percussion just about gives me a instant headache it is brutal i would rather shoot the 375 ct .

and no i ain't joking .

so i now have no follow through as when the sears break boooooom and i automatically close my eyes

this is a reflex action as it's like getting hit in the forehead with a bat .

so there you have it i must be a wimp.

Get better hearing protection. I use Peltor SportTac when using the brake or without. Not a problem.

I found the same thing when shooting my 6.5 under the roof @ SSAA. It's given me the s**ts so I've removed it from my rifle as well pretty expensive paper weight!!!!

Yep will fit it up when shooting the Military comps, found it reduces recoil sure but the shape of the vents point up and the concussion from the roof s**ts you to tears!!!! so your right Chronos out in the paddock shouldn't be a problem. I hope

If you put the brake on the other way around...

Recoil will still come down but I guess muzzle jump goes way up?

I don't give a damn whether you have a .375…that rifle would be absolutely useless around where I live. I would leave it in the boot and borrow another rifle.

It would work as a brake still, I suspect you'd be hopping so far off target though it would be too much of a pain in the ass to ever bother with.

I didn't read that as hostility, well maybe at the though of carrying a tac style rifle around his backyard.

I think NE has a valid point. If you look at the kind of steep thick terrain Victorians hunt sambar in a 6-7lb rifle is ideal and a heavy hitting .30 cal or larger the cartridge of choice a brake makes perfect sense if you'd like to see which way the beast went when it was hit.

You can't compare a 17lb rifle to a. 6lb rifle
