New trigger for Sako L461

Post by mausermate » 16 Nov 2014, 2:03 pm

I am rebuilding a custom rifle I purchased a number of years ago.
New 223 500mm bull barrel, new scope, stock makeover, rebedded, and maybe a few trick bits like a nice butt plate and pistol grip cap. Might even go down the road of replacing the hinged floor plate for a detachable mag option.

The current trigger is a Canjar set trigger. I want to replace it with a two stage trigger.
Sako L461 Short Action. Any suggestions?

I notices a jewell trigger for an old sako on used guns this morning, couldn't tell you if it's suitable or not , don't think its two stage but could you adjust more pre travel into it ?

saw the Timney not the Jewell! looks like a single stage. Not sure about adjusting more pre travel. Think you need a different setup for the two stages to work properly.

Thank you.

I appreciate the help.

Chronos, do you think they changed that usedguns add. You said Jewell, I thought I saw Jewell this morning, and now it say's Timney! I don't really know the difference but it's weird.

Maybe it's a troll.

Search trigger jobs on ebay and you'll find him.

He has listing for work instead of items. It's about $45.

You buy then send him the trigger and he works his magic to make it light and crisp and sends it back.

I haven't used him myself but he gets lots of good feedback.

He will actually need the complete rifle to do the Sakos - as far as I know he doesn't have a action to test on to set them up right (well he didn't when I took my Sako to him).

That's the first I've heard of needing the whole rifle, doesn't seem to be the case anymore anyway.

There is a listing for L461 trigger job online at the moment and just talks about mailing the trigger back and forth.

Can only message him and ask I guess.

More to do with setting it up right, you can't test it without an action!

nup, more rooting around than I was willing to put up with so out the door it went, got no time for crap rifles no matter what's stamped on the side of em - quite simply if they don't shoot and work as I require I move em on to someone else to stuff around with. The amount of diff load combos etc and still it was flatout achieving 1" was good enough reason for me to make it someone elses. :drinks:

in the first L461 (222 rem mag) that I owned I had the same problem, long story short tryed some 50 gn sierra flat based projectiles and never looked back. I had a few people tell me the same, might be a sako thing???
