Any reason why you want to bed it? They're super accurate out of the box.

Unless its just something you want to do, then go for it.

Like above, their factory groups are usually pretty good unless there is a problem.

Are you aiming to improve something specifically, or just doing it for the experience?

Id be interested to see if you get any improvment, my 452 shoots very tight groups in stock standard form. Ssome before and after results would be great to see.

No real reason been refinishing the stock and put a solid rubber Pachmayer recoil pad on it
I just thought I would go the whole hog and pillar and glass bed it , and yes just for something
to do.

Yeah go for it.

Don't know that it will do much in the way of accuracy for you, but might as well go the whole hog ;)

Not yet I cant find any bolts in my shed with the same thread to make dummy action bolts with and I don't know whether I should use the originals or not , it would be a lot easier to use longer dummies and have them already inserted in the action and poke them through from the top .

Anyway, apart from that I'm ready to go.

I'd track down some dummies IMO.

Hey reddog... are you still chasing up screws for your 452 for the bedding job ? I gave my 452 a 18th birthday today. I broke the whole lot down, gave the crown a tidy up and pollish then re blue, Gave the cam on the bolt handle a good polish, put a new edge on the firing pin where it engauges with the trigger assy and gave it a high polish and the swivel screw was touching the barell so I gave it a touch up on the bench grinder and took to the last 4 1/2 " of the stock with some 80 grit and a piece of dowel as a round sanding block so she is floated just nicely now. Gave all the parts a good clean, lubed up the trigger parts and bolt bits with a fine smear of molly grease and a light spray of G96..... So smooth now. Heading out early tomorow morning to give it a blast.
