Will a Remington 700 triggerguard fit a Howa?

Post by reddog » 20 Oct 2013, 11:22 am

Hello all ,

It's 38 and blowing a 40 knot northerly here and my minds wandering (Im trying to keep myself from having a beer ) :D

Anyway the one thing that I really don't like on my Howa is the ugly triggerguard . As the Howa has the same footprint as the Remington I was wondering if the triggerguards would be interchangeable , anyone on here have both rifles ?

Anyone know?

Thanks in advance .

I think you'll find that while the footprint may be the same, the screw holes are not.

The rear Howa action screw hole is a fraction more forward I believe.

You might fit it, but I think it would be stressed in funny places.

Interesting...

Which Howa and which 700 exactly out of curiosity?

You swapping parts from gear you've got or shopping for new?

Theres nothing wrong with the good ol Howa shoots good how it is but....
I have a stainless heavy barrel .223 Howa , and no remington floorplate,
but the trigger guard is much nicer on the remington with the internal
floorplate release , also the rem 700 action has more custom parts than just
about any other . I know you can get the ugly detachable mags but I dont
like them , or detachable mags fullstop . I know it might not be a drop in
fit but to use the words of another on here" anything can be made to fit "
and dont worry Monty I wasnt gonna screw it down with tek screws :D
The winds stronger and its 40 now I might have a coldie now ;)
Thanks fellas

Dunno about Remington, but some of the Weatherby stuff is interchangeable with Howa isn't it?

Could be a better fit than Remington?

Can someone measure their Remington for me?

According to the Boyds stock spec sheet I've got here, Remington 700 long action is 187.3mm

A little fitting will be required it seems...
