Marlin Lever/Loop

Post by Die Judicii » 25 Oct 2015, 10:15 pm

Hi all,
I have a Marlin XLR 336 in 30/30
See pic of the standard lever from it.

I have seen other models that have a large loop incorporated, instead of the standard lever.

Can anyone tell me for sure if the two types are interchangeable or not ?

I have rather large knuckles that tend to pop the lever at the most inconvenient times, ie: just as you are about to squeeze the trigger.
So I would like to change it if possible and hope that the larger loop solves my dilemma.

Hi. The red dot is sitting on my new Henry 22lr. Thanks

Most lever actions sell the large loop as a spare part. Your gun dealer can get them.

They are for winter hunting with the big snow mittens

Thanks for the info on the lever, I'll see if the LGS can order one in.
Its a pity there aren't specialist "Firearm Wreckers" like the automotive industry has. :D

Oh hang on,,,,, the old guy (now retired) that owned the LGS down south where I used to live was a "Firearm Wrecker". :silent:

Glad to hear you put the Red Dot to good use.

At that price + shipping then probably cheaper to buy a whole gun and sell the one you have.

Thanks fellas,
At that price, (I'm in the wrong business),,,,,,,, I have decided to take mine, and pad it,, then have a go with the PortaPower.

As long as I don't distort the bolt end of it, I reckon I can do it properly as I have 40 plus years in the welding and maintenance industry.
Most Stainless grades form/bend better cold than hot so I wont have to worry about tempering.

And if things go pear shape  ,,,,,, I can then get my friend in the USA to get one and send it to me.
I'm stuffed if I 'm going to pay the outrageous postal rates that the likes of Brownells charge if I have to get a new one.

Novel idea.

Couldn't have barrels or actions unless you were a dealer but other than that I think all the bits are legal in most states?

if you know an online site that sells them I can order now and have it shipped to the brother in laws so I can grab it while I'm there. Guaranteed result this way just in case the wife restricts my shopping activities :)
