It's the latest craze in reloading ... work your way up untill the case stamps the bolt face then back off .2 grn.

Many years ago I seen the same thing happen with an U/O shotgun, you could clearly read Win AA 12 GA on the breech face, probably could have read it if you were blind also as the letters were very raised, as you would expect the shotgun was destroyed, SKB if my memory serves me right, the owner was lucky, two very black eyes to show for his first effort at reloading, for this reason I always implore people who are new to reloading to read everything from the instruction manuals for setting up reloading presses and reputable reloading manuals, there is a lot of pressure being released only inches from your head ;)

G'Day Fella's,

Strikey, good advice there mate!
Not enough people read and fully understand, what it is they are doing and trying to achieve (when reloading)!!!

My bad, after experimenting with a 308 case and a piece of Plasticine, it turns out that 308 is the mirror image of 308. Who'd have thunk.

G'Day Fella's,

Trekin, nice to see a person admit they weren't entirely correct.
Good to see mate, as it seems to be a failing trait these days!

FYI, I wasn't able to distinguish what the brand was of the Proof Load was, before I handed it over to the new owner.
You can see part of the cartridge brand, around the area of the extractor but I couldn't distinguish what it was???

He got a new rifle out of it... so let's hope he realised how dangerous it was and that this outweighs in his mind the reward he was given
