Trigger spring a specialty item?

Post by chookah » 05 Nov 2013, 7:33 am

Morning,

I want to replace the trigger spring in my rifle to lighten the pull a bit.

Thought I'd ask before I call around and waste my time at the wrong places... Is a trigger spring a specialty item that I'll have to get through a gun store?

Or if I call a few spring makes or wholesalers or whatever are they likely to have something suitable?

Wasn't sure if rifle brands make custom springs for their rifles or just buy bulk from spring wholesalers.

Thanks.

Chook.

You won't need a "rifle spring".

It's just a spring.

A spring, is a spring, is a spring.
What is this "too many rifles" you speak of?

A spring and wiring place would do hundreds of different spec springs.

Sako or Ruger or Howa or whoever would buy one that suits their specs.

You can just replace your trigger spring with one that's the same lenght/width, but lower tension.

Replacing the trigger spring is the easiest thing in the world, mate.

Find a spring shop and take your current one down, they'll sort you out with a suitable one.

Drop it into your action and you're shooting.
