35 Whelen.

Post by Baz460 » 30 Dec 2016, 1:38 pm

Hi.

I have a Rem 7600 in 35 Whelen, and am wondering if I can get it rechambered and rebarrelled to 308 for a reasonable price.
I don't want to reload anymore and factory ammo is to expensive, although it is the best pig rifle I have ever owned and has great knock down power with the 220 SP's , I just want the ease of buying factory ammo at a reasonable price.
Cheers Baz.

sound about right....maybe a bit more,

chuck it on abused guns, they're asking for generally MORE than what some stores are selling them new,

$1350 for a new Rem, means mine is worth about nothing LOL. I've still got a couple of hundred rounds loaded for it, so will blast them off and have a rethink.

Cheers Baz.

Yeh, It was made around 2003 and has a timber stock and heavy duty stainless barrel, I guess it's worth something.

Agree with what others have said. Would be more economical to trade it in. Maybe even get a bit rash and get a Howa bolty and your changeover would be ******.

I'm thinking a bit like wrenchman. Keep it for old times sake. It's not like you'll be raided for having an arsenal.

I would keep it. I could see a bad case of seller's remorse in your future if you were to sell it. You could always buy a second hand gun in something a bit smaller, or even a ruger american compact or something similar to accompany it. That way you end up with two instead of rechambering one. You can buy cheaper ammo and just reload occassionally forthe whelan

After reading all your comments, I will keep it and buy a Rem 7600 in 308 and swap the Leupold Pig Plex and mounts on to the new rifle. You guys are right, what I would get for it would be bugger all, and as I mentioned earlier, I still have a heap of ammo loaded for it.

Cheers Baz.

Good value, just don't like the pistol grip.
