Sharing some recent muzzle brake success

Post by Medic » 05 Jan 2017, 7:41 am

Hey guys, just sharing some success I've had with some new designed muzzle brakes on my howa 1500. We put it on, shot right out to 150 with no adjustment from no brake with no change in aim point but huge reduction in recoil. Video and slow-mo is coming. Hand made on manual lathe and mill. Looks great and functions the same, on the video shots are fired by an army lieutenant.

Great fun all round. Certainly did the job on a bunch of critters this week!

Just waiting for my mate to stop by with his Iphone, i'm using a new android phone and it's junk, the photos came through real low quality, he should be here in a day or two so I can get the videos etc.

It's a howa 308 with MDT chassis. Loaded with 43grains of 2206H with a Hornady Vmax 168 grain projectile. I managed to screenshot some pics to wet yer appetite... a few fox's and rabbits for fun, (not much left). Didn't manage any deer this run as i'm ok for meat and am looking for a stag atm, their antlers are getting BIG! Managed to stalk within 200 odd meters before a bird gave away our position, bastard thing, next time staggy.

The brake is aluminium, i can powdercoated it but just painted it with ceramic paint, held up well.

Looks good mate.

Would be cool to know a bit about the thinking of the design.

Of course. Time dependant I just had twins born a month ago but yeah if you had a design in mind and happily signed off to the "All care but no responsibility" ethic I have, I'll make you whatever you want. :D Is the barrel threaded? I cast my own 7/8th ounce slugs too man i love those things.
