Tikka M55 vs M590

Post by Baconroller69 » 02 May 2017, 2:13 pm

Hey all,

New to the forum but been looking around a few years :D

I've got an older tikka M55 in 22-250 which had a bit of a mishap and now needs a new barrel. I'm able to lay my hands on a tikka 590 barrel and was wondering if the tennon shank / action face etc was all the same - basically can i give both to my gunsmith to head space and go?

He hasn't done any tikka 590 but several m55.

So, are there any differences?

Thanks in advance!!!

- oh and aware i can just rebarrel but its more a sentimental thing as was my dads but i dont shoot it often.

Just incase anyone wonders, thread pitch / barrel profile etc all the same but thread tennon length is different. M590 is 5mm longer. FYI
