You originally wanted to go to 30-06.

Is it a short or long action? If it is a 22-250 on a short action then 30-06 be no good anyway.

Personally i would get a decent barrel done by a smith before i bought a new howa. The quality will be a huge difference

Hang on boys i haven't taken it off yet and probably won't for awhile until i build up some cash after my son rolled his cruiser 100 m down a range
we lost him 3 times in 24 hrs but he's coming good now thankfully he may never work again but he's alive
This puts a strain on the old purse string when your living in a motel 600 klm from home for month waiting to see if he is going to servive after being
so broken
But hopefully i can rebarrel by the end of the year if i go ahead with it

cheers

Thanks Daddybang much thanks his healing will go on for the rest of his life and as far as women liking scars
well he's got enough scars to have half dozen wives
Its marvelous how much the human body can take before it decides its had enough
He has five of those scars smallest is 180mm and biggest is nearly 300mm
Anyway mate cheers for now

Thanks Oldbloke, yes he is slowly getting better but it's like breaking a piece of your best crystal you can glue it back together
but the cracks are still there the only good thing to come out of it other than him still being alive was he received no head injuries
what so ever all the injuries were from the chest down but mainly the pelvis and hip region
Anyway thanks muchly

A slow & steady race for the young fella. Cold comfort in light of what hes facing , but at least his arse is pointing downward. While ever thats the case things can get better. As for you, after all that stress, you need a nice relaxing hunt with a sweet custom 30-06

AMEN Jeff303 AMEN something broke inside me that day and it will never heal one thing I realised then was how delicate
life is and how hard the body fights for that life I used to take life for granted but I don't now
Thanks for your thoughts mate

All will be ok mate. All of us at some stage come to that realization, by various means.
Guess the the key message is make the most of it.

Thanks Marksman he is slowly mending he is hobbling around now after 12 mths
He misses the shooting and pigging but he realises he will never pig again but maybe we can get him target shooting
He was too active to do it before he couldn't sit in one place for too long without getting bored
this is a pic about 1mth before his accident on the hill in fog

Geeezus nice pig
he will really miss being full hands on but hes strong and may show a few more miraculous things can happen

I wasn't going to say anything but in 1986 I got caught in a machine and ended up with 3 breaks in my spine and 8 breaks in my pelvis
I was never supposed to walk again as well and didn't for 2 very long years, at times I go down and my lower half is like a rag doll
I am as active as I can be but it shows what can happen, I walk at my own pace now
so will your son  good luck with everything

Crikey Marksman you've been in the wars to by the sounds of it hope all is as good as can be mate
Yeah he had 13 breaks in his pelvis plus major shattering also both his bum cheek bones broke off his backbone and had a 1'' gap
between his backbone and cheek bones fixed with 4x3'' screws
One break in his backbone just below his shoulder blades , smashed knee ,broken foot and major mussel tearing in back and legs
and the list goes on
Anyway mate hope alls good for you and thanks
