"O-Cedar" is a furniture polish that cleans, will leave a very slight residue but not much. Nice to wipe over a timber stock that is either oiled and/or coated with a clear finish.
I wipe my firearms with a cloth that has a slight residue of either / both Tetra Gun Oil / Inox and/or Ballistol all of which are on a soft rag. I wipe the whole firearm, metal and wood. Don't live on the coast and firearms are stored inside with moisture control inside the gun safe.
balistol is the stuff . lots of other oils , includeing G96 im told, will eat into the wood on a rifle and are petrolium based. balistol was developed by the german army before or during the first world war and can be used on leather and as a antiseptic on cuts and wounds ! i'm very OCD about looking after my guns
