Aics single shot adaptor

Post by scoot » 03 Mar 2025, 8:56 am

Does anyone know of a source in Australia for an aics magazine compatible single feed solution. I have found followers to suit tikka magazines in au. All I can find for aics are single shot replacement "magazines", which would be fine, but they are all out of the US and A.
I'd like to get away from the fiddling around with my finger to 1/2 feed the round when top loading.

Last year, I printed up a single-shot AICS-Compatible 'Mag' for a mate for his T3 (.260), which has been fitted to a Manners stock.
Printed the Mag out of ASA plastic, which is durable enough to withstand UV light etc.

Printed fine, and when I tried it out in my (AICS Compatible) MDT TAC-21 chassis (Rem 700 - .308Win), and (AICS Compatible) Ruger Precision(.308win), it worked perfectly.
Messed around with feeding single rounds etc, and worked just fine.
Neither of my T3's have an AICS mag, so couldnt test it in the same action before sending, but theorised that an AICS mag should be compatible??.

Sent it to my mate, and he said it wouldnt work in his T3.
So, I have no idea if there was something different enough about the feed that stopped it working.
He said it wouldnt lock in, and thought it was slightly too tall.

Mate is coming out for a couple of visits over Easter and then in May, so might have a chance to adjust the model to make it work.

If you are still looking for something then, I might be able to print one up for you?

Dont recall if I have models for anything other than the .308-sized mag, but if it's that size actions, I should be able to tweak it to fit.

Ideally I'd get one for a .223 tikka in an mdt stock and a .308 in a grayboe stock. I though 3d printing would be the simple solution if there were print files someone had made public. If I can't find anyone close by to knock me something up I'd be happy to pay you for you're services if you master it.

So, both designs are to suit a Tikka?
And one is a standard Tiika mag in .223, and the AICS one is a Tikka in .308?

The one-shot block I've already printed should be the one for the .308.
Just whether or not I can get it to fit yours.

Looks like I have a single-round block for a Tikka .223 in the items I've downloaded previously, though I've not printed it before.

Sometimes, the files that are available to download, dont import into the modelling software 'nicely'.
Depends on how much the creator QC-checked the design was clean.
SOMETIMES, they are so messed up, it's not worth bothering with trying to fix them.

Anyway, when my mate arrives at Easter, I'll mess around with getting a single-round block to work in his AICS, and if you are still looking for them by then, I can print you up one of each?
In theory, I SHOULD be able to check the Tikka .223 one for locking in, by seeing if it fits into my 7mm-08.

I'll let you know when I get to experimenting.

Well,

The AICS one I've printed to date fitted my Rem 700 .308 in the TAC-21 chassis, so fair chance it will like yours..

The T3 one is something I'll have to look at, and think about.
Is the T3 AICS mag the same size externally as a .308 one?
Just a different follower profile?

Correct. Follower is a different profile for the .223. Externally the same. All my different brands/types/calibers will physically fit and clip into either rifle
