They actually are M1903 clips, there were no specific clips for the US 30cal M1917 rifle, soldiers were issued ammo in M1903 clips regardless of which rifle they carried. The correct clip for the M1917 therefore is the US M1903 brass clip with tags at each end, these tags break off very quickly, often on the 1st use. The clip can be re-used usually but are much weakened and can become unusable after only a few uses making the clips more of a collectible item rather than usable. I have 3 original clips I paid $55 each for them. Damaged clips can be found for around $15 each. Shooters of the M1917 use Swedish clips because they fit perfectly, are only $3-5 each, and are easy to find, Cheers.
