Nitecore MH40GTR or Olight M3XS-UT?

Post by Altay » 11 Mar 2019, 2:33 pm

Looking for feedback on either the Nitecore MH40GTR or Olight M3XS-UT for a scope mounted spotlight. Both seem similarly priced and capable although the Nitecore is larger. TIA

I cannot give you feedback on those two as I use Fenix which are awesome but Olight is a quality lamp and you could do much worse. I use a hand held torch and don't mount anything to my rifle but if you shoot alone I can understand why you would do this.

I did a review of a few leds recently including some niteC and olights - P30 nitecore is amazing value for money.

Have used my M3X quite a lot over the past few years and it's never failed me in rain, being dropped or banged around in scrub at night

For a scope mount if everything is equal you might want to look up the weight and go for whichever is lighter

Nitecore p30 is165 grams vs the olight m3 at 255 grams...if money and weight wasn’t an object then there are some crazy powerful battery powered leds out there...
Check the nitecore tiny monster tm38 light that will beam out to 1.4klms...with nearly 500,000 cid and 1800 lumens. Mind - at $500 I’d take 7 x p30’s and strap em together and search Saturn for aliens lol.

Thanks for the replies. I've got a Lightforce handheld spottie for when I'm in the car but having the torch for walking around appealed to me. And while some of these torches can light up Saturn :) the reality is that I'll only be taking shots at pests out to 200m at night.

I also came across the Z Vision with different colour leds at the push of a button. As with most things wireless, the battery life is a big consideration.

Sorry for re-hashing this thread, have any of you guys used the red filters on the olight m3xs?
I too want to buy a rifle mount light, tossing up between the olight and a z-vis jp-303.

I use my olight m3xs all the time love it! Also have the red filter which clips on and off easily it does cut down on distance but works well when calling in foxes.

I did have it stop working at one stage but after contacting them they replaced it no questions asked, replacement turned up same week I posted my one off so can’t complain there

I have the scope mount and the magnetic barrel mount, the olight our shines my power beam spotlight

Won’t be long and you won’t need a firearm...if these little torches keep leaping ahead in tech as they have been - they’ll end up being able to send a pulse of light at the bloody animal, that will kill it instantly....

I bought an o light based on somebody here raving about them a while back. For its size it's the most powerfull torch I have ever owned. I m spending a week in the scrub very soon so I will give it a good workout
