Thread Pitch on muzzle of Ruger Precision .223?

Post by Rod_outbak » 17 Mar 2019, 10:41 pm

Folks,

Anyone know for certain the thread pitch on the .223 variant of the Ruger Precision Rifle muzzle?

I'm reasonably sure it's 1/2"x28tpi, but I've seen some references that suggested 1/2"x24tpi.

From what I can figure out, the RPR .223 barrel should be the same as an AR-15, which should be 1/2"x28??

Thanks in advance,

Rod.

It would have to be 1/2"-28tpi, 24 would be a typo.
I can't find the .223 RPR but even the 6mm is 5/8"-24tpi.

Got a thread gauge Rod ???

Most of those threads are 1/2 " UNF

But a simple thread gauge will set ya right Mate.

Most of them are actually UNEF, and not UNF.

bladeracer is right; 1/2"x28tpi for the RPR .223 thread.

5/8"x24tpi for the larger RPR threads. (.308 etc)

Now I have to just figure out what the thread is on the Trentech brake on my 7mm-08.
Lee cut & threaded the muzzle and fitted the brake, so not sure what thread he went with...
Anyway, the hard one was the .223 RPR thread.

Thanks all.
