Otis cleaning kits

Hey all,

So I'm getting back into hunting and target shooting after many years away. I used to run an Otis cleaning kit which I picked up during my years in the army. However I have no idea where it ended up, so I'm looking to pick up a new kit for a .22LR and a .308 Win. What are peoples thoughts on Otis or any better suggestions?

Mate there are a few threads about on people’s preference for products and cleaning regimes.
Personally I use Hoppes bore solvent, CLP, and G96. No doubt people will have differing opinions on what is best. As for Otis mate, I haven’t tried it so can’t comment.

Otis has an excellent system if you have a lever action, as you can clean from the breech using their flexible cleaning cable. I have one for my BLR. I think it is well made equipment. However for cleaning bolt actions or a rifle that can be disassembled, then there is plenty of gear to choose from. As an example, I have none of what JimTom uses. LOL

A good one piece cleaning rod is a great, the usual brushes and patches etc, and a nylon bristle brush for using copper remover. I use silicon cloths for outside cleaning, and Remington dry lube for actions. This is to try and minimise dust in the actions when in the field. I keep normal gun oil away from them for this reason.
