Bipod vs tripod for target shooting & bit of hunting?

Post by Grated » 26 Jul 2013, 3:17 pm

So the time has finally come to upgrade my s**ty 3-6" bipod :D

While I've got the opportunity, reckon a tripod is worth the extra over standard bipod?

More stable I guess but I haven't actually used one so that's as assumption based on common sense more than experience.

Thoughts? Any brand recommendations also? Cheers.

3" bipods suck. Can't even see over the grass with them half the time, lol.

If your shooting prone or from a bench, I reckon a good 6-9" adjustable bipod will do the trick.

Only need a tripod for sitting in a field or something for where you need a prop 2 feet of the ground to bring it up to eye level when your sitting. From what you explained though I guess that's not the case?

Oh, and check out Harris Bipods.

Bout $120 or something for the 6-9 I mentioned above and will last you forever.

If you've been getting by on a crappy 3-6" one, a good 6-9" or 9-13" Harris bipod should be a huge improvement for you and do everything you need.

After going shopping today I picked up a 6-9" Harris.

Feels worlds better than the previous one.
