Lockdown impulse buys.?

Ok. So we’re all in some kind of lockdown, apparently. Some more so than others.
Anyway, as we have time, access to online shops, and not too much else to do. What are some of your best purchases? And worst? What would you recommend that “everyone should have?” Both seriously, and in fun.

Ordered myself some gongs from Black Carbon, Replacement bolt handle from Atlasworxs, bunch of proj, primers and brass from LGS.

Went to the LGS chasing some bullet pulling gear and walked out with a rcbs chargemaster lite, I thought not being able to buy ammo or firearms would've made the trip cheaper, clearly not.

Hmm i bought myself some ammo for the 22lr... but that was before lockdown as i figured shops will close. I got some 2217 powder.

Ohh wife bought some wine, and a weed sprayer. So i went out and bought a mill and lathe with tooling (not in that order though). And now i am busy fixing up a shed to put the said lathe and mill among work that is still hectic.... hoping next week is quieter.

I know a friend who picked up 2x 4kg bottles of 2209, and other types of 500g bottles.... probably spent $1500+ there.

I have been ringing around for unprimed 12 gauge hulls and federal wads. Finally found a few but man they are going fast.

It true that being stuck at home saves you money. I bought a new 1-4 power scope for my 7600 308 to replace the red dot that I had on it. Now need another rifle to utilise the spare red dot.

Full bottle of gas for the camp stove. My aim is to anneal every bit of empty brass I have. Might take longer than 6 months but.

I bought a case tumbler, a media sieve and some media. The only trouble is I have spent my mandatory isolation reloading all my spare brass. Hopefully one day I will get to use some of it.

Does anyone know why those listings of masks are being removed from the site?
My wife works on front line - so bought 5 masks from eBay and the purchase was cancelled after payment, this has happened 3 times now ?

I have $1200 in Porkulus funds coming so I have to decide whether to buy stocks with it and make some money or buy a gun. I have a few ideas, an AK-47, a CZ Scorpion or Grand Power Stribog or a Galil, if I can find one. If I want to plump for more, maybe a Steyr AUG, H&K MP5 or a B&T APC 9. One way or another I need to buy a gun this year.

Or last year until I was hit by a drunk driver, I was just about to buy a plane ticket to go the Townsville 400 Supercars race. Fly into Brisbane direct from Texas. Not sure what the situation will be this July yet.

It has me a little baffled re the price of thermal cctv cameras vs thermal mono scopes etc.

Did you consider thermal ? The price difference is significant and not sure I hunt enough to warrant a thermal...which brings me back to pard.

The nv700 vs nv8 is also interesting - because although I’d like to be able to use a scope of my choice, to have one fully set up without having to mess about with adapters and new lights...hmmmm

although there is no doubt that the thermal would be way better and l have seen it in action as its what my pro hunter boss uses it is out of my price range
l'm setting up my nv007 for my 22 dasher and want one on a 22 rimfire,
l have thought about the nv8 on the 22 but now that l have the nv007 another scope that is compatible is cheaper
l like using the nv007 as a monocular, very handy, it attaches really quickly and quietly

just to show you as a monocular with no zoom here is a photo l took walking back to the car a few weeks ago of a couple of skips boxing in true ozzie fashion at just over 200, l know the photo isn't the greatest but that is on low IR and it did look clearer to me looking at them

Think you’ve convinced me.
Just been checking out the variables - I like the LRF version of the 800 but, it’s an expensive “up” from the nv7 for what it is...and I’m reading it’s much heavier on battery use. I do prefer having the option of using “my” scope and if you go with a good illuminator - distance and precision seems to become a viable option so might want to use a 20x or better...
Hmm decisions decisions.

although l did buy an optisan evx 6-24x56i for using the nv007 it is only recommended to use around 11 power max for the using nv007
l wanted the extra power for long distance day time shooting
l set my vx2 6-18 leupold on 12 power and got very good clarity

Tassie, i believe eBay was forced to remove all listings of masks. As people were hoarding supplies and selling for huge markups.

Wannaroo, i am thinking shares would be a good gamble with the general market being down by 10,20,30% its a reasonable gamble if you have some extra money.... can always buy more guns later

Marksman u have mentioned that your pro hunter boss uses thermal. I have been wondering for a while if pros would adopt thermal. And when I ran into one in the scrub he seemed very interested in the capabilities of thermal. What game in the pro scene does he use the thermal for?
