It is cool.

I wonder if they're actually here though? Or not in some states at least?

Except for the doors, I recall that joins have to be folder/welded in a particular fashion?

yes they look interesting. I couldn't see how much they weigh but the XL looks a fair size! probably won't ever be available in Oz due to shipping costs, unless someone imports a container full.

I dunno... There shipping plenty of other safes in from overseas.

I'm 99% sure Spika is made and shipped from overseas and there are tonnes of them here.

You wouldn't want to just ship one for yourself though

You'll have to wait until a retailer picks them up I guess.

just opened the manual - the XL is 485lb (roughly 220kg) - would be easier to move around in pieces than when assembled.

RE: the welds and joins, don't quote me on this but I think that might be in referenced to cat C,D and H stuff.

And possibly in some states like WA in general?

In Victoria for example Cat A/B requirements are:

(1) The firearm must be stored in a receptacle-
(a) which is constructed of hard wood or steel that is not easily penetrable; and
...

Obviously there are no folded welded corners on wood...

yeah perhaps not viable for all categories, but it appears to be viable for at least categories A,B for most if not all states from memory (memory fuzzy)
with that said if your on the move allot or renting it would be a perfect high security solution and its heavy enough not to bolt down for A,B but I think the other categories require it to be bolted at least in QLD not sure about the other states.

I think some business are trying to see if the interest is there enough to start importing them regularly as I have found some AU online businesses advertising them as out of stock or currently unavailable. I would love to see it as a option given I'm a renter and want to avoid having to lug a heavy ass save around and also want to avoid having to bolt things.

I do think the idea is cool, but honestly how often are you going to be moving that you'd really need one?

Not knocking it, just not sure if its cooler than it is actually useful.

I suppose for lighter safes which you could do on a push trolley it's a bit of a gimmick. 150kg isn't really that much to move with a trolley and some mates.

If you're doing a real heavy one though I reckon it's a great idea.

yeah no worries m8 I understand what you mean...which is why I brought up the fact that it would appeal to renters and or people that are traveling and would like a easy to put together high security option on over night stays or at a m8s place to far from home? etc etc

Now that's a good idea!

I have a few mates or family that I stay with from time to time.

It would be good to be able to take a rifle and get some friends to the range etc. but none of them are license so no storage facilities.

Puts a stop to the whole idea if I'm going for a week or whatever with no way to leave the gun unattended.
