Bought a WORK BENCH today

Post by Die Judicii » 01 Nov 2020, 9:47 pm

Have been desperately needing another vault type safe, so I can spread things out and not get scrapes/nicks/scratches etc. :problem:
So I saw advertised a heavy all steel workbench for sale.
It measured 2.4 meters x 2.4 meters, and the plate steel top was unmarked and dead flat with no holes in it.

More than enough material to make the custom built and custom fit safe for future "stretching out room" and it only cost me $200.
Just the door alone will put this upcoming safe beyond having to be bolted down. ( 16 mm bisalloy ) 8-)

Just gotta find the time now to start fabricating,,,,,,,,,, :problem:

I'd better clarify a few points,

1) the 16 mm bisalloy that the door will be made from will be from a separate sheet that I've had in storage for years.

2) the workbench plate steel although more than adequate is not 16 mm

3) the sides, back, and top, will be two layers of 8 mm with fire proof sheets in between. (the laminating makes cutting through with oxy etc damm near
impossible.

Nice meaty project and timed well for warm weather lol!
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.
