Kydex Cheek Rest (Feedback Needed)

Post by TheFirearmEnthusiast » 07 Dec 2020, 7:35 pm

Hey guys

I hope that everyone is well

I hope that everyone is enjoying this Christmas season with their family and friends after what has been the strangest year ever

Lads

I bought a "Kydex Cheek Rest" a while back
(https://www.scopedout.com.au/target-vec ... cheek-rest)

And I was thinking about installing it on one of my rifles

However
Before I drill permanent holes into the stock of my rifle

I was wondering I could get some reviews/feedback on the "Kydex Cheek Rest" please
(From the people who have it and have used it)

For me
My concern is that:
When I rest my cheek onto the cheek rest
(Whilst target shooting from a bench)
I have realised that I actually somehow apply quite a bit of force/pressure onto the cheek rest with my cheek
Hence why before I drill the "Kydex Cheek Rest" into my rifle stock
I would like to make sure that it will definitely be strong enough and sturdy enough to be able to withstand the pressure of my cheek being applied on it whilst it's installed

If anyone would like to share their experience of the "Kydex Cheek Rest" with me

That would be greatly appreciated

Thank you
:)

I'm extremely happy with my Kydex cheek rest.

It's very rigid and will not flex easily.

If for some reason you don't like it and regret drilling holes in your stock, the fallback plan would be to ream the holes to suit some hardwood Dowells, glue them in place, trim and and sand them flush, stain and refinish the stock.

I highly doubt you will regret fitting one.

Thank you for that feedback on_one_wheel
I think I'll be alright too..
What I can try to do is;
I can maybe try to fit it onto something else
I can maybe try to fit it onto a random piece of wood or whatever
I can then see if it will withstand the pressure of my cheek being applied on it
Then if it does, I can just then drill it into the stock of my rifle
That's probably one way to "pre-test" it I suppose
