Having never bought a "bean bag" type rifle rest, I bought one recently (ebay jobbie)
When I got it, I filled it with rice,,,, and it's been pretty good,,,,,,,,, but ,,,,,,,

After only using it 10-15 times the seams have started to open and I'm (losing my rice instead of my cool)

Are there any particular brands that I should be looking for ???

Most of mine are Chinese Ebay, but I also have some branded Caldwell bags (probably out of the same factory).
All have been really good, even left out in the weather for several years.

I fill mine with plastic pellets though, perhaps the rice is causing a problem?

Cut up old trouser legs. Sewn and filled with rice i think.

Your mousy friends will love the rice. Lol

Thanks JT and BR.
I'm gonna try re stitching the seam where its let go, but I fear the material type/combo will probably let go again.

I like the rice, cos it adds the amount of weight that I like. I don't want something that's light and easily slid/dislodged over the edge.
And as an added bonus I might need it for tucker,,,, if I get stranded out there one cold frosty night.

Meanwhile I'll check out the Caldwell stuff.

I have Caldwell. It’s still fine. U could throw a cloth around the existing unit as is and knot a cord around the top , not pretty , but at the end of the day it’s just a sack of grain to shoot off. Mines filled with split peas , good work on the black and white dog

I'm pretty happy with my Protektor
Being heavy stitched leather it's going to outlast me.

I got one of these a few years ago, still goes ok. I thought the handle or its stitching would give out being tossed around and left in the Ute but its lasting. A lot cheaper than the caldwell equivalent when I looked. Depending on fill it can be heavy because of its size.

I have a set of Caldwell bags i filled with sand that i baked to get all the moisymture out of. Monstorously heavy being actusl sand but the bags are holding up excellent. And a cheap price when i got them too.

I use an Army webbing pouch filled with bean bag balls(in another plastic bag). These have Molle straps so can be fitted to pack or belt. They are also weather and mice proof.
