Lee "Precision" my ass...

Post by redrum » 11 Aug 2013, 8:25 am

My first experience with Lee Precision reloading gear...

Bought one of their drill case trimming systems, wouldn't screw together because the thread wasn't straight.

Replaced it for another one which wouldn't screw together because something in the thread was off and about 2mm in it started shaving metal filings off itself somewhere... :x

3rd times the charm perhaps? I thought Lee was supposed to be the business, obviously not in my experience.
Good news, everyone!

Hmm,

I have the same trimmers for 2 calibres... Didn't have a problem with them being straight, but they were a very tight fight. Had to use pliers to make the measuring rod flushing with the cutter.

Instead of having the 2 measuring rods and 1 trimmer, I bought 2 cutters and have 1 rod in each so I don't have to switch them back and forth. For the sake of $13 it's must less hassle.

p.s. and a make-shift handle for the cutting bit wouldn't hurt either.

Grip can be a little tricky while running the drill, I drilled a hole in a little wooden handle and set the cutting tool in it with a bit or epoxy so I have a bigger handle to work with when trimming.

Haven't used it myself, but there's tonnes of people using Lee reloading gear without issue...

A spot (or two) of bad luck I guess?

Which is what led me to using them in the first place.

Replacing it one last time then I'm done with Lee unless this one's perfect.

Give it another go. Usually their stuff is solid.

More than tonnes...

Give it another go. Lee reloading gear is good, someone at the store or the posty probably dinged the packs when they were handling them.
