Bringing hunting tripods into Australia

Post by kj1 » 28 Mar 2023, 3:39 pm

Hi!
I've bought a couple of hunting tripods in the US and want to bring them back to Australia. Does anyone know if there are any restrictions in doing so?
Thanks!

Don't overthink it. It's a tripod.

Unless it has a rifle hanging off it I can't see any issue. I recall there was a photographer a year or so back that somebody called "active shooter" on because they thought his tripod was a "black rifle", so be careful ;-)

Seriously???
What is your thought process here??
Is the bipod in any way inherently part of a firearm (rifle)?
Put it in your luggage. IF you are asked, it's part of your photographic equipment.
End of story.
Safe travels :)
