of most gun stores.

For those people thinking of trying that idea, don't be an idjit.
Years ago a bloke who came hunting here brought one out, he'd got it on some online import place, in fact it was a set as I remember. There were a number of them with different barrel thread sizes and different metric and imperial filter threads.

Anyway, I reckon he's lucky he wasn't busted by customs bringing it in. His first shot at camp was a joke, he dragged it out with all this fanfare and self-importance at "beating the law"
First shot on his 223 with factory full-power hunting ammo blew the rubber anti-drainback valve in the rear of the filter straight back into his face, and all this paper sh*t was flopping around inside.
I mean really, how much pressure is an oil filter supposed to take? 10-20psi, 30 tops in some engines? Yet the millisecond 50,000psi PLUS blast from the shot bursting into the filter, I mean really. F**k I laughed. Apart from looking really amateur and stupid, it didn't work.

Don't do it, it's stoopid and dangerous, let alone illegal. He was lucky he still had two eyes. From an engineering perspective it's f**king obvious it's a gay idea.

can you guys use suppressors we can but there is lots paper work involved they are trying to change it so they are a little simpler to get.
I don't own any and have thought about getting one for one of my hand guns.

With respect to suppressors/moderators, New Zealand seems to be the land of the free. People who DON'T use them are almost considered to be social pariahs. Absolutely NO paperwork involved. In fact, it's unusual to see a rifle without a threaded barrel.

Its just laughable all the fuss made over a hearing protection device...

Up until 6 months ago My deal (owned by Woolies) and Dick Smith were selling silencers openly online by calling them "fuel filters" and selling them with one end threaded but without holes drilled in the baffles and end cap...

For $35 to $55 you could buy them in a variety of diameters and lengths and then drill the holes to suit whatever calibre you intended using them on...

There must be many thousands of these horrible and wicked accessories out there now though it seems the powers that be must have had a talk to both companies and advised them to stop selling them...

Do some research if you can't already see it, all this crap is chinesium rubbish and only going to lead to tears, and I'm sure that having shreds of aluminium sticking out of your body is desirable either.
And you will not get an invitation from customs, you will get a knock on the door at 3am and it won't be to discuss how you like your favourite morning coffee. Ask the Shooters Union for some instances of the result from ordering this junk online.
Rather, take the same amount of trouble to lobby your supposed "representatives" to push to make the proper stuff legal. If we can't, then it's the way it is.
