Just thought I'd share an option which is Aussie made, and if this sort of thing suits your use, can make a firearm suit a task better.
With my Howa 243 I have persevered with the standard floorplate, but wanted to be able to use a detachable 5-shot AICS mag (MDT) for dog shooting.
What usually happens is I hear a dog howling, or a neighbour rings about howling over the fence, whatever. I grab the dog rifle and ammo and have to lickety split do everything at 1000mph.
Way better for this task (for me) is to grab a mag with 5 cartridges and head out, and not fumble about loading through a port in the dark. These Howas can be really f'ed up if you don't push the cartridges right back against the rear stop. No dramas with a detachable mag.
Dogs cause such financial loss and animal distress and any fumble, time wasted or heaven forbid, a jam-up has to be eliminated.
Anyway I had a discussion with Colin from Atlasworx and we picked the right one. There are different versions with shorter paddles, in-trigger guard releases, badger footprints etc but this one went straight into the Hogue full-bedding block stock.
Huge big triggerguard to suit gloved fingers, but remember that on Howas, when you cock the action the trigger clicks forward about 6mm or so.
May not suit all people, or some may think it's ugly, but to me working better is beauty.
