Building a Gun Case

Post by Westy » 01 Aug 2014, 5:07 pm

I have been thinking of building a rifle box for the back of the Hilux for a few months now and finally got the time and motivation to do it over the last few weeks, I wanted something to lock my rifles in when traveling and staying over night on the way to and from hunting spots all over the state. As always it started out small but it soon blew out to a monster and here it is the finished product, or as far as I'm taking it at the moment  :) I might make a box with inserts for the bolt over the next few weeks :?: :?: :?: here's a few  's enjoy

Top job. I will be starting a similar project soon. A lockable case to go in the rear of my wagon. One thing I can't decide on is wether to make it same as yours or use the rifle bags aswell . I'm leaning towards making a box to suit the rifle bags so I can just remove the whole bag when at the range. Your does look mint though.

This ones only going out the bush with me to keep the cops off my back ,I just put the rifles in a bag on the backseat when going to the range. When I'm out West I'm a million miles away from anyone who could care!!!! :D  If needed I can pull those dividers out and wallah rifles in bags fit inside!!!!!

very crafty you are....looks damn near commercial standard, set up a biz...

2 man lift? handles? I like the struts, out of the wife hatchback :D
What material is it craftywood?
Will it have fixdowns (say internally) so it cant be carried away from the tray while you dream about the days hunt....

I was also thinking of a storage to in-vehicle solution, but a smidge more compact, steel sheet, fit for 2 rifles, internal QD fixing to the tray/boot.

Good stuff!
