Have owed quite a few LED Lenser torches 2 x p7's, p3, m5, p17, m7r and a small key chain style one that took watch batteries and I don't know its name.
All but two have failed! Most within 6 months but they were all used in very harsh conditions working on machinery being exposed to dust, mud, heat, different oils, vibrations, dropped in mineralised water in underground mines. The m7r and p17 have just been used around the house, camping, shooting etc and are still going strong after a few years. I have been hard on them so that's obviously why they failed but I have had torches from other companies that haven't and have done the same thing with.
LED Lenser lights have always been lower on the lumes than other brands but have quite a unique focus system that lets you have a torch that throws a concentrated beam and then can be adjusted to a flood light. However the flood is quite defined with not as much spill to the sides as conventional orange peel reflectors.
I see the newer LED Lensers have much higher output now but they are quite pricy. Most of the brands I trust are made in China with good quality control and out perform these expensive models and are a lot cheaper and in my situation more reliable. ThruNite would be my pick today but flashlight technology has moved forward that quickly it might be someone else in 12months time.
