Anyone filming their hunts?

Post by Combat_Wombat » 05 Oct 2014, 10:00 am

I've recently been given a go pro style sorts camera that I took out on a shoot yesterday as the bloke who I went with also wears one on a head strap. Looks a bit silly but gets pretty cool footage. I managed to get three pigs but having my camera mounted on the rifle it was upside down and in the heat of the moment I presses the wrong button and missed the lot!

So does anyone else use a go pro? And any hints to getting best footage?

I made an adaptor to fit my redfield revolution scope, simply clip my I phone into it, downloaded IScope app. and haven't looked back, works a treat, removes parallax and eye relief problems, and effective triples the zoom whilst being recordable the whole time, only got it on my 17hmr but I've not fired a shot without it for 200 or more rounds now, produces good footage especially popping bunnies heads off at 100 metres. Also a great aid when sighting in and checking acuracy can replay the video and see exactly where the cross hairs were at the point of firing, good aid to manage trigger pull etc. but above all it is just entertaining to rewatch the hunt,
Wife even enjoys shooting and watching it

Oh if you didn't gather it mounts behind scope and looks through it no to the side like a gopro

I've been thinking about going the mounted gopro option for a while.

A few good vids on youtube and looks like a winning option.

Yeah any advice I can give is mount it on your head or chest not on the barrel most of the running footage was pretty ordinary

Shooting footage was ordinary from the recoil you mean?

Or just general footing from the nature of carrying the rifle around?

Both padaro I only had the one mount so I thought I would give it a go but 90% of the time the barrel is pointing at the ground and the recoil blurs the picture a bit

This is a roughy of what I see on my iphone via the adaptor I made, can be zoomed in out etc still shot or video, not really a practical walk hunting accessory but great for perching up on bunnies or whistling foxes

If you want I can sort something out and host it.

You can use a service like sendspace.com to mail the large files. Email a few to me and I'll upload them Benny?
See you on the firing line.

I have a GoPro put aside at a store to pick up on the way home, going to be used as a dash cam primarily but will give it a go on my next trip :)
