Any 303 oil bottle experts?

Post by AussieTimmeh » 29 Oct 2014, 6:19 pm

Hi guys,

I am trying to identify a 303 brass oil bottle to work out if it is a WW1 Mk3 item or a later Mk 4 item. There used to be a site called enfield-stuff.com that most online resources refer to but it's no longer online. Is anyone here an expert if I were to post some photos or does anyone know of a resource I can use to identify it?

I have heard one suggestion that the bottom of the Mk3 bottle has a slight curve which makes it more difficult to stand up whereas the Mk4 is flat but it didn't seem conclusive.

Any help would be awesome! I'll try to get a photo online when I finish work.

No expert, just starting to research LE's myself.

There's always room for at least one more gun in my safe.

Bit of an old thread revival, but thanks for the offers. I've since identified it as a Mk 3 bottle from resources found online. Peace.
