Just my opinion but Led Lenser are like MagLite. A once great product that has stagnated and been over taken by others that are ether cheaper or only slightly more expensive.

You wont be disappointed buying one, until you see it in action next to one of the new school jobbies!

Spark also make a number of excellent headlights, find them on eBay.

If you do buy off the net there's an eBay seller "Hkequipment" they are excellent, bought from the a number of times over the years, they also have a direct web site http://m.hkequipment.net/index.php

For one Fenix I can have twenty odd ebay cheapies, or ten energisers, all do as good a job (as far as I can tell) and I can have more than one kicking about.

Head torch, invaluable in the bush or fishing! $4.99 from Anaconda - does the job.

for the price of one land cruiser I get by 26 old Ladas, not much of a recommendation, there's cheap crap and quality products when you're buying anything,

Do you apply the same logic when your buying guns and Amunition?

For the price of one purdey I can buy 20 Lambers, 25 akkars, 8 Berettas, etc etc,

For the price of 1 packet of norma I can buy five packets of PPU

Honestly I ride a bike quite a bit and my $5.00 cree bike light doesn't stop me from keeping up with my mates with some pretty flash gear(oh, I ride a giant and for the price of an orbea I can buy six giants and still keep up).

There is great value and over the top stupidly expensive for what it is- Fenix is in that range as far as I am concerned.

If it does the job as well who cares if it is cheap?(oops, some people do)

Better peace of mind buying something a bit more expensive. Gives them more confidence. Whatever I suppose.

To me it's about performance and task. If your cheapy is yielding the performance you require for your task at hand, bully for you.

All the cheapies i've seen are fine for fumbling through your back pack or searching in the car boot but will not throw a usable beam far enough for certain applications. All depends what you want it for and what you want from it.

This one still gets my vote if you want fully variable high output. It isn't a stock light btw.

"HC90vn - The Best Headlamp

A current boost is all this light needs!
Ultra wide white spill with a neutralish hot spot, real nice
Very Smart UI as shown in video
Great heat sinking design with Orings everywhere for excellent water resistance
Micro USB charging port is a plus!
Handles heat with current boost very very well!
Ran 20 minute straight on Turbo and the light is quite warm but not too hot
This is the best headlamp I have ever handled

Maximum of 1250 lumens is allot of light even out of a small OP reflector.

Not knocking it, just saying hard to to get an appreciation of performance when it's filmed lighting something inside only a few metres away.

I agree, as does all the people who asked in the thread dedicated to selling it.
I asked him to get the performance video or photos and he is. I'd like to see it in action too
