High quality flip up scope covers wanted

Post by RealNick » 30 Mar 2015, 2:02 pm

G'day,

Can anyone recommend a brand of good quality flip up scope covers?

I've had a few Butler Creek ones but find while the real small cover is good, the larger one always wears out stupidly quickly.

I've had 2 that break off from what I'd call gentle use in about 6 months.

If you use Leupold scopes these are very good, I have a couple of sets myself.

The last Leupold scope I purchased came with covers so that's a big plus for buy Leupold. I stopped using the butler creek ones for the same reason, they just wear out too quick. They are next to useless on Nightforce NSX as the zoom is on the eyepiece so the whole cover turns which I find a little off putting. The cover that came with the Kahles K624i was strung too tight and broke the 3rd time I removed it....$3000 + scope and $5 cover...go figure.

Leupold are the only ones I've used worth mentioning.

Have you tried a stretch over one BTW?

Personally I think the idea of flip up covers is nice but in reality not that useful considering everyone has broken one.

Covers are up the whole time at the range, when stalking or varminiting you don't flip the covers up/down between each shot. I found they save you about 5 seconds at the beginning/end of the day compared to taking a stretch over cover on/off.

And the stretch ones basically don't break ;)

keep in minde that if you have a sunshade on yours like i do the leupold rubber strap caps might not fit if you have a 4inch

You want to be the Government taxing the import.

Our 'Australia tax' on shooting is the money maker :problem:
