Mounted lights

Post by basil brush » 08 May 2015, 9:38 am

Hi

What are folks using for scope mounted kights these days?

There are many boptions and opinions out there but
I am interested in real examples of solutions mainly for foxing.

Thanks

This is the set up I use. The mount came off a smaller Led lenser torch which mounts onto the scope with an allens key to tighten it. The torch is a wolf eyes broadsword that the gf got me me Christmas awesome little torch with a flood / spot combo.

And thinking about a full-size torch. The Fenix ones looks like they really crank it out.

Just starting looking at those myself too.

Look very powerful, not overly expensive either.

Not cheap but you get more than you pay for by a long shot.

I have 6 of his lights. 2 for rifle mounted. He is easy to speak to by email direct. tell him what you want and he can do it. 100% satisfaction warranty.

The only thing I am disappointed with is the wolfeyes mount I bought being too high. Looking for another cheap ring/pic mount. And that they didn't get the chinese to use spell check..... picatiny

The Skylumen modded by Vinh Ngyuen uses one 18650 cell and lasts about 40min before I switch to a fresh cell. I carry 2 - 4 cells in a night session.
Dont bother with remote switch cables or what ever they are. Rear clicky on off and mode change is easy.

Doesn't cast the beam where you'd like it or just because it's awkward being too high?

The mount is too high and awkward. I'm looking at much cheaper ring/pic rails at the height I now know I want.
Getting the weaver style ring mount for the light tube is easy. Just getting the right height for each scope is my next endeavour.

The beam is flawless and is pretty well right in alignment height wise.

I just ordered the following from his list of flashlights for sale;

For my 22lr scope mounted spot light:
EC32vn (upgraded cherry picked emitter option selected) XPG2 PDTc + engraved $90 + $25 + $5

His latest best headlamp, better than the previous one I have mentioned before:
HL55vn + engraved $90 + $5

Another scope mounted spot light:
SL1 + (upgraded cherry picked emitter option selected) U3 PDTc + DriverVN2 + engraved + 2Free Efest 2500mAh cells $175
(Free shipping for HL55vn and EC32vn)
Total: $390

Because he buys in bulk ALOT from the distributors he gains savings. He has influenced some of the major manufacturers to build lights to suit us and his modding

Check out his CPF forum thread in the link above.

Will post a photo of each light and specs soon when I have time.

heres an action shot

I use either of these two outfits. The can was used as a target at night with the Nite Site to check sight.

I'm obviously behind on torch tech, only upgrade my 15 year old mag light 6 months ago

I dunno what the model is but I had one of the standard 4x D batter in the handle ones, I sure people will know the one.

Bought myself one of the single A4 batter size LED Lensers, the P5.2, and it's as good if not better than the mag at 1/10th the size.

Get a good usable light out to around 200m or more, maybe 250. With a coloured filter it cuts down to about 150m with green and 100m with red.

Why use the different coloured filters?

Filters are less detectable to game than shining a patch of "sunlight" on them. My target species around here are less concerned about the green, but they are still "onto it", as in, they do notice it an look for the source but the red filter they don't notice at all.

I find they are almost less concerned about the sound of the gun than they are about the light shining on them.

At a stretch i can shoot out to 120m with the red filter.
