DIY Shooting rests by a tight arse

I do a fair bit of sit & wait these days. So I made some shooting stick about a yr ago and would recommend them. But for some situations they don't do the job. As trees are often abundant I thought why not have a branch on every tree when waiting. (they never seem to be in the right spot do they). So I came up with this, just a piece of bent 4mm rod with a piece of plastic tube pushed over the horizontal rest bit. And the side touching the tree has been roughed up with a grinder. Held on with building cord seems to work fine.

And tonight I converted a cheap camera tripod by screwing a piece of pine to the top after removing the camera mount.
The thing is I hate paying top dollar for rubbish made in China when I can DIY.

Yep, good improvement. The idea was to achieve light weight, small and cheap.

A pair of velco straps might work just as well and take up less space and weight than a ratchet strap

even better idea i wonder if you can get bunjy cord velcro
